Three Days After the Raid: The Death of Dr Jeff Bradstreet
On 19 June 2015 a fisherman on the Rocky Broad River at Chimney Rock, in Rutherford County, North Carolina, saw a body in the water. It was recovered and identified as James Jeffrey Bradstreet, a physician from Florida who ran a practice in Buford, Georgia. The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office stated that he had died of a gunshot wound to the chest that appeared to be self inflicted. A handgun was later recovered from the river. Three days earlier, federal and state agents had searched his Georgia clinic.
Bradstreet was born on 6 July 1954. He took a bachelor of science degree at the University of South Florida in 1976 and entered medical school there in 1979, obtained his Florida medical licence in 1984, and completed postgraduate training in aerospace medicine at Wilford Hall Medical Center. Later in his career he served as an adjunct professor of child development and neuroscience at the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, Arizona. On paper he was a conventionally credentialled doctor, and that mattered enormously to the parents who found him.
